The cinematic study
The Final Drift is an experiment in realistic cinematics, made in 2026. A car moves through a desert canyon, with the environment, camera and sound working together to give the short sequence a sense of scale and presence.
I used Unreal Engine for most of the work and Megascans for the assets, then brought the film into After Effects for titles and Premiere Pro for sound effects and finishing.
Building the sequence
- 01ReferencesVisual references from Pinterest and other reference sites helped guide the mood and framing.
- 02Unreal EngineThe cinematic sequence was assembled in Unreal, using Megascans assets to build the environment.
- 03TitlesAfter Effects handled the text work for the finished film.
- 04SoundPremiere Pro brought the sound effects and the final sequence together.
Scale and movement
The canyon establishes the scale of the scene; the car and camera movement draw the eye through it. The study explores how those visual cues, together with the sound, can make a real-time cinematic feel grounded.
